White Shift

The night creeps in
Across a vast wide expanse of white
Fragile cobwebs sway lightly
Speckled with the dust of everyday life
A brilliance bouncing off the webs
Lights up reflective thoughts that roam the night
Wandering slashes of gray appear
Following the moonlight clear.
A little marionette, wrapped in strands of mystery
Dances with faceless silhouettes that float on by
The brilliance fades, the light dims
A rustle of silk and the expanse shrinks
Marking the night with its despairing thoughts
Leaving the marionette crumpled and lost.
